Description

Vintage 1937 Model 25 “f” Hole Dobro Guitar with Flat Tuners & a Sunburst Finish Here is a great sounding and playing Vintage Dobro guitar. It is a 1937 Dobro Model 25. In 1937 Dobro contracted all assembly to Regal but only Dobro brand instruments bore the name. They also started using solid headstocks in '37. As you can see this guitar has the typical wear of a Depression era instrument. The body on this guitar is bound top and back. Looking how Dobro does serial numbers and doing research the serial number falls in the L9000’s for Regal made in 1937. In August ’37, National-Dobro contracted all Dobro assembly to Regal, agreeing to sell Regal hardware by the unit. By that time National-Dobro’s attention was focused on production and profitability. National-Dobro, however, continued the Dobro number series, which had reached the 9000s, usually with an “L” prefix, on National guitars. Regal never numbered resonator guitars carrying its own trademark, except by accident. Regal mixed and matched hardware freely on all its Dobro guitars, apparently using whatever tailpieces or cover plates were handy at the time. In 1937 Regal replaced the budget Model 19 with the Model 25, which had top and back binding and pointed f-holes. • 19 frets • Dot inlays • 25-inch Scale length • Nut width is approximately 1-7/8” • Closed Headstock • NO CASE This is a previously owned Dobro guitar and as you can see this guitar has the typical wear of a Depression era instrument but the paint is still very glossy and looks quite nice for its age. There are scratches, chips and dents in several areas of the body, neck and fretboard. All frets look to be in fair condition with some discoloration. The resonator metal has scratches on it as well. We are not the original owners of this guitar, so we do not know its history. We do not know if there have been any modifications on this guitar. The sound is still great. We are not guitar experts, so we do not know everything about this guitar
