Lazaro Enrique Limonta Medina (Kike) Artist Statement Lazaro Enrique Limonta Medina (Kike) was born and lives in Havana, Cuba. He is an accomplished painter and sculptor with works in public and private collections in Cuba, Venezuela and the United States. Kike was raised in a humble neighborhood where he learned his craft from an early age. He was initially taught by his mother, who was his primary school teacher, and his father, who was also a painter. He continued his studies and interest in art through high school, where he stood out for making portraits of the Cuban homeland martyrs. In 2019 and 2020, Kike participated in the tribute to the 500th anniversary of the founding of Havana. Currently he performs workshops of painting, drawing, ceramics, paper-mâché and others to all age groups of amateur and emerging artists. Because of the poor economic conditions in Cuba, and the obstacles associated with obtaining a United States visa, Kike is unable to travel to the U.S. Consequently, his art is represented by: Jon Witherspoon 217 Link Ct Newberg, OR 97132 (contact info removed)
