MIRROR IMAGE PAIR---THESE SIT SIDEWAYS NOT VERTICAL ADJUSTABLE IMAGING BAFFLE FOR REFELECTED SOUND ORIGINAL FOAM GRILLS---VERY COOL VINTAGE PAIR PHOTOS SHOW FOAM GRILLS NOT SITTING FLAT, THEY DO I JUST TOOK PICS FAST OUTSTANDING---These look and sound like its 1978 again. Yea, technology has changed speakers a lot BUT the classics are still the classics. Bose fans and critics always rate the original 301 as the best pair of Bose speakers as they don't have all of the added gizmos, angled speakers and hype that later models have. A basic 2 way speaker with 8 inch woofers and a tweeter on an angled baffle that has what looks like a small boat paddle in front. That connects to a dial on the outside so you can angle or bounce the highs towards a listening area or to make the imaging better for your room. The highs are very directional so this is one of the gizmos that actually works well. Great overall speakers for a room, or if added to a subwoofer which doesnt let low frequencies go to these speakers, fine for a large living room as the power handling is no longer an issue. NOT the best for some classical (deep bass) or rap/hip-hop music these were always classic rock and jazz speakers or classical if you don't crank it up with cannon shots in the music. Power rating specs are from the 70s when most amps made 20 watts per channel and big ones made 50 and todays amps are a lot more WHICH IS BETTER. Too little power fries speakers most of the time as its distortion. High power AND low bass turned up can overdrive these but extra power or headroom, makes for cleaner music. With ANY speaker, you can connect a 500 watt amp if you want, just don't abuse the speakers or try to play ear splitting levels. Regular volume uses only about 1 or 2 watts THATS IT. Loud play 15 to 30 watts will get quite loud. (double the power and speaker volume goes up 3 decibels) INCLUDES pdf of original manual with positioning, use and specs.
