Description

Oh, my mom found this baby up in the upstairs closet. It was my first synth. The Yamaha PSR-80. I bought it new in 1987. Totally forgot about it! It's in fantastic condition. I don't see a scratch on it. Just dust. Lots of dust. And I removed as much as I could but it's hard to get out of those speaker fins. It powers right up and works great! Go Japanese manufacturing! I've researched this and it's actually a pretty cool little synth. It has five octaves of good synth action keys. Will take you right to the eighties. It has speakers. They are at least very loud. It has a headphone jack. Multiple outs. Midi. Inside it actually has two synth chips. One is the YM2414 aka the OPZ, which is an FM synth that was used on the and the . This is a really cool fm chip. And the other chip is the YM2154, a sample chip with roms for 80s drums. See the attached picture which shows the samples included in this particular synth's rom. It's basically a full set of 80s drum sound compressed to a crunchy 20k or so I think. You can play them right from the keyboard by putting it in drum mode. So basically this is an 80s FM synth and 80s drum synth with a 5 octaves keyboard, with speakers, and powers with batteries, and is in excellent condition. It's ready to be portable if you want. I think you can access the synths full power through midi, even though there are limitations with what you can do right on the keyboard. There's information on the internet that explains more. Overall I think it sounds great. It's got the wonderful 80s strings sounds and brass and much more. Will take you right back to that era. And effects pedal would probably really help too. It comes with the owner's manual which is a brand new. And it comes with non-original adapter which is much smaller and lighter than the original (thank god) but works great. Again this synth is in excellent condition and sounds great and works great. All of the keys work, the buttons and switches. And I think for this price you are getting a good deal!
