Description

BASILIUS BESLER (1(contact info removed)) BOTANICAL ENGRAVINGS Custom framed with glass and single matted. "Balaustia, Prunus Myrobalanus rotundus, Mala Armeniaca", hand colored engraving from Besler's 1613 botanical work "Hortus Eystettensis" (The Garden at Eichstatt) in which he documented and illustrated over 667 species of flowers, on Italian laid paper with anchor in circle and trefoil watermarks. "Alcea Syriaca, Edizioni Ponte Vecchio, Viola Marina Repens" hand colored engraving. This is an original etching by Edizioni Ponte Vecchio, showcasing a beautifully detailed botanical study of three distinct plant species: Alcea Syriaca (Rose of Sharon), Viola Marina Repens (Trailing Violet), and Cotula Fertida. The etching is rendered with fine lines, capturing the unique textures and forms of each plant. The composition is reminiscent of classic botanical illustrations, lending a vintage and scientific aesthetic. The piece is presented on a textured, off-white paper, further enhancing its timeless appeal.
