If you’re searching for the best place to buy a reliable used car in Baltimore without overpaying,  hopefully my experience at Auto Bid Center Public Auctionwill convince you this is the spot.

First and foremost, the people I met—Shamera, Victor, and the tall guy (can’t recall his name)—were genuine, professional, and patient the entire time.

My car suddenly broke down, and although I had the money to fix it, at 260k miles it wasn’t worth it. I was looking for a used Chrysler 300 (2010–2015) with under 100k miles in good condition for under $4,000—a tall order, but this auction delivered. After a week of searching for affordable used cars in Baltimore, I found their auction site. The first time I missed the Wednesday sale, but I made it to the Saturday auction. Online, the car I wanted was listed at $4,500, but I was told the best deals happen at the auction.

I arrived at 10AM, paid the $300 refundable deposit, and saw “the one.” The atmosphere was friendly, with other families and couples bidding. You can inspect vehicles yourself, with keys inside. It’s “As Is,” but I felt these folks would help if there were issues. The process is simple—minimal seating, metal benches, cars driven up in a lane, and you raise your number to bid. I won my car for $3,500—deal of a lifetime.

Tips for buying at Baltimore Auto Auction:

•Leave kids at home—nothing for them to do and can be distracting.

•Arrange payment ahead; my bank flagged my card and it turned checkout into a 3-hour ordeal. Bring cash or cashier’s check.

•Expect fees: $3,500 car + $110 card fee + $475 auction fee, minus $300 deposit = $3,781 total. Most cars I saw sold for under $4,000.

They also handle tags, title, and registration on-site, plus recommend insurance nearby. I self-registered to get home and show off my new ride. Took it for a 57-point inspection—passed with no issues and got a 90% “guaranteed to be on the road five years” certification.

Overall, 10/10 experience. If you’re looking for cheap cars in Baltimore or want to buy a car outright without financing, this is the place.

Got a car from here MONThS ago and still haven't received a title. Their title line mailbox is full so u can't leave a message and I live out of state. I tried everything but apparently THEY have to give me the title. I paid for a car I can't even register without the title. They should tell people this before they purchase a vehicle that they really need to be able to drive!

Great place to buy an affordable vehicle. They helped me find a car for my son. Very reasonable prices. I will definitely be back!
