Description

One of the all-time most sought after vintage hi-fi monster stereo receivers. This is the international, black-face version of the great SX-1250. Better than the 1280 and 1980 in my opinion - because the output transistors are still attainable in case one or more should ever blow. This stereo is fully functional and has been thoroughly serviced. It's been re-capped with high quality replacement capacitors such as Elna Silmic II and Panasonic "Muse". Bias and DC offset have been set to factory specs. It's not perfect however: the plastic attenna holder in back is broken, the voltage has been hard wired to 120 (no longer selectable to 240) and the outboard Dolby adapter connections have been removed. None of those things affect the sound in the slightest. If it was perfect the price would be double or triple (see current eBay listing at $6,500 +shipping) I need money for Xmas presents so I'm sadly letting my prized stereo go. If it doesn't sell soon, I'll just put it up on eBay for $3,500 and figure something else out for my wife, mother, and daughters' gifts. So this is a very lucky opportunity for a smart collector to obtain an unobtainium receiver at a great price.
