Their soft cloth bodies are off white muslin, their black shoes are softly brushed and their a clothes are custom designed and printed patriotic theme. As a special addition, each doll comes with matching "Raggedy" pin to wear close to your heart forever. Johnny B. Gruelle first created Raggedy Ann storybooks and dolls in 1918. Johnny's inspiration was driven by his daughter, Marcella, who took ill at a very young age. By her bedside, Johnny created many Raggedy" stories and adventures about the loppy rag doll to entertain Marcella. Unfortunately, Marcella passed away at age 13. Knowing how much she enjoyed and loved the Raggedy" adventures, Johnny wrote and published Raggedy Ann Stories along with a Raggedy Ann rag doll wanting to share this wonderful and rare gift with children everywhere. Johnny created Raggedy Ann's best friend. her brother Raggedy Andy, 2 years later in 1920, in the same fashion. Millions and millions of children have fallen in love with "kindly and loppy' Raggedy Ann and Andy.
