Chinese Vintage 1950s Cloisonné Enamel Red Floral Vase, 3x8” Bright red background with bold flowers all around — classic cloisonné style. Great vintage condition consistent with its age — glossy enamel, no chips or cracks. Defects & imperfections – please check pictures made under the bright light & magnification: minor tarnish on brass rims. Fascinating Fun Facts: • Cloisonné is made by applying enamel into tiny metal partitions (“cloisons”) soldered onto a brass body, then firing it smooth. • Chinese artisans perfected cloisonné in the Ming dynasty (15th c.), and it has remained one of China’s most iconic decorative arts. • The bright red ground of this piece is a favorite export color from the mid-20th century, popular in Western markets. • The interior shows traces of red enamel flux and brass patina — a normal hallmark of authentic cloisonné production.
