It is a type of traditional Chinese amulet coin (known as huāqián or yànshèng qián), popular during the Qing Dynasty. It is a Taoist protective charm used for exorcising evil spirits and attracting wealth. The front of the coin typically features a long incantation (mantra) and sometimes Taoist seal script representing the command to subdue demons, while the back often displays the Eight Trigrams (Bāguà)
