Description

Selling this 2-stroke 50cc Vespa with 90 miles on the odometer. It is in fair condition - it’s a great metallic cobalt blue, but there are some scratches and dents on the bodywork. There are no tears in the seat, and all the pieces are there. It is in mechanically good condition, it starts every time, idles, rides and runs, however it doesn’t run quite right. It chokes out on when too much throttle is applied, which you’ll need to fix. I have run out of patience with it, as this is not a project I chose. Below is the history of the scooter and what I’ve done to try to alleviate the throttle issue. It was purchased new by an older couple who apparently rode it very little, then stored it. It must have had several things dropped on it in storage, because that’s the only explanation I can come up with for as many dents and scrapes it has with that few miles. Then my father in law wanted a Vespa, so I found this listing on OfferUp for him - but he did not wait for me to arrive before he bought it… I won’t comment on that here, but that meant that the throttle issue was not discovered until the sellers had already left the meeting location. After he got it home and tried some basic things - fresh gas, new fuel filter, new air filter, cleaned the carburetor - and they didn’t solve it, it became my problem. I have cleaned the original carburetor myself, replaced the carburetor altogether, replaced the spark plug, replaced the CDI, tried giving it fresh premium gas, replaced the intake manifold, and I’m out of ideas. It still chokes and dies on full throttle, and I’m done trying to figure out why. My father in law has moved on and bought a different Vespa, so I’m moving on too. It’ll come with the original CDI, original carb (which is probably fine), 1 key and a clean title and bill of sale. If you can get it running properly, it’ll be a great first bike/scooter - it rides very comfortably, handles and brakes well, and all the lights and gauges work. The seat locks to protect the storage underneath using the same ignition key, and the clock on the dash has a fresh battery. Let me know if you have any questions.
