Description

" ×37" Framed original composition reminiscent of the Neo-Expressionist and Surrealist styles made famous by Cuban painter and sculptor Pedro Pablo Oliva. The Whimsical Figure: The central depiction of a long-haired, ethereal female figure reflects the dreamlike, neo-figurative characters that frequently appear throughout Oliva's portfolio, such as his notable pieces featured at Sotheby's and the Harn Museum of Art.• Textured Backgrounds: The earthy, heavily-textured, and rustic brown borders emulate his frequent use of mixed media, acrylics, and layered textures. • Grotesque and Playful Imagery: The small, distorted figures, masked faces, and geometric fragments tucked into the lower panel imitate his classic narrative visual "chronicles" regarding Cuban socio-political and personal realities.
