bamboo is a grass

Black bamboo. We divided and dug up a small grove of Black bamboo and have two clumps that are about 15 feet tall with 10 to 15 culms in each clump. We have these healed into the ground where the water table is high and keeping them watered. There is a chance that Black bamboo could flower and die. I had about 20 out of 100 that I had in pots at my nursery flower and die in the past two years. I think the ones I have that did not flower are likely other varieties of Black bamboo that are on a different flowering cycle and it is unknown when the other Black bamboo will flower.
