Description
Only 10,000 were ever made between October 1993 and February 1994. Overall, this Macintosh TV is in excellent cosmetic condition for its age. This unit works well with a couple of exceptions. The CD, hard drive, keyboard, mouse and remote are all tested and work great. The screen is bright and clear. However, the TV tuner does not work nor the startup sound. I believe this is due to faulty capacitors which can easily be replaced. For computers 32 years old, this is to be expected. All collectors of vintage computers and electronics routinely replace the capacitors after they reach a certain age. One other issue is when inserting a floppy disk, the floppy drive mechanism doesn’t easily grab the disk to read it. But it will accept it by manually moving the disk up a little and then it drops down and it is then read by the drive. Since the drive hasn’t been used in over 20 years, this stiffness may simply be because of a lack of use and or some dust. This can easily be fixed by removing the drive and probably making an adjustment or light cleaning of the drive. The drive is easily accessible following the Macintosh TV technical manual which I can provide a copy of or provide an internet link for it online. This technical manual for the Macintosh TV is a great resource for instructions on how to do complete maintenance and a tear down of the Macintosh TV. Internal SCSI HD Capacity: 160 MB RAM: 8 MB Made in 1993. Only 10,000 of these were every produced and probably only 10% of them survive today. And most of those don’t work and are missing parts to it such as keyboards and mice. Take a look at eBay. It’s extremely rare to find a complete and working Macintosh TV. The logic board is clean. It has a new PRAM battery installed. This Macintosh TV turns on from the keyboard or the remote and boots into MAC OS 7.6. Again, the display is nice and clear. Note: The lines in the photos of the CRT screen are just camera artifacts. Any time a camera takes pictures of an old CRT screen, it’s going to show those lines. The exterior of the unit is in nice condition, only a few minor scuffs on the case. It has a new fresh install os Mac OS 7.6 which is an upgrade from the original 7.1 OS that it was shipped with from Apple. The CD carrier is included as well as the original CD with factory OS 7.1. You will be hard pressed to find one of these rare beauties in this condition. Additional note: the credit card size remote that I have included in this sale is the actual remote that Apple shipped during the 4 month manufacturing run of the Macintosh TV. It is extremely rare! Beware of other eBay listed Macintosh TV’s that don’t have this original remote. Instead, if they include a remote at all, it’s the black elongated remote that sold with the Twentieth Anniversary Mac in 1997 and probably other Apple Macintosh products of the era. Software and Apps included with this Macintosh TV: Mac OS 7.6 ClarisWorks 2.0 Norton Utilities 2.0 The Print Shop Print Shop Deluxe WordPerfect 2.1 ChemDraw Plus ChemDraw 2.1.3 MacDraw II SuperPaint 2.0a Cricket Graph Calendar Maker MacDraft American Heritage Dictionary Roget’s II Thesaurus Disk Copy 4.2 MacLinkPlus 8.1 9 Games included as well.
