DOT 3 brake fluid is the most 'commonly' used brake fluid for old/modern vehicles, and has a much lower 'boiling point' temperature than DOT 4 brake fluid for daily driving and strenuous driving habits. DOT 4 brake fluid can withstand a much HIGHER boiling point for constant stop & go driving, and temperature to prevent your brake pads from overheating! Performance driving enthusiasts tend to go with DOT 4 brake fluid for 'spirited driving' or taking their vehicles to the track and VALVOLINE DOT3/4 SYNTHETIC brake fluid is suitable for heavy city daily driving demands as well as pushing your car to the limit at your local race track and keeps your fluid from overheating!
