Description

Selling these two HiVi Swans 3.1 speakers. These are normally sold as a DIY kit (that’s often out of stock because of how good they are for the price) for around $400. Love the sound, but I found an incredible deal on some active studio monitors so I’m selling these and the amps with them to make space. I modified them with Sehlin’s Perfectionist Crossover Option #5 which is an additional $50ish in crossover components and flattens out their frequency response immensely. Great detail in the tweeters, very sweet slightly scooped midrange from that big dome mid driver, and a massive amount of bass for a 6.5” woofer. I had these sitting on top of my 10” mains and heard almost no difference in bass extension, these really don’t need a sub (but would sound even better with a good one). The vinyl wrap that comes with the DIY kit (which I used) is notoriously not the best, so I’ve got tape on the corners securing it. That said these would be a great project for anyone looking to re-finish them in a color/finish of their choice. I’m also happy to re-tape them if you just want the speakers as-is. The amps are a really solid budget-friendly Class A/B amp that retailed for $179 each. Dayton Audio used to have a white label of this amp that was one of their best selling products for many years. I was using them as monoblocks, but they also work in stereo for two sets of speakers so if you needed amplification for up to 4 sets of speakers then you’re good to go with these two amps. Considering the cost of the amps, the cost of the DIY kit (without factoring in assembly time & cost) and the cost of the crossover mod, this is realistically around $800-$850 in value going for half that amount. Honestly I got such a crazy deal on both my studio monitors and my mains that I’m just looking to pay it forward to someone, so for the retail cost of just the DIY kit you can get the speakers with the crossover mod, and the amps.
