Vintage traditional nutcracker guard soldier from the Ore Mountains, manufactured in the GDR (approx. 1960s–1970s) DDR. At the time, these popular collectibles were produced in large quantities by enterprises such as the VERO Olbernhau wooden toy combine or in Seiffen, for both domestic and international markets. Item Details Figure: Classic guard soldier or officer in a red uniform, white trousers, and tall black boots all hand painted. Headgear:. Tall black shako hat with a red dot (cockade) on the front. Special features: The beard and hair are made of real rabbit fur. The face is hand-painted, and the lever mechanism on the back operates the lower jaw to crack nuts.
