Each print is embossed and some plated with gold or silver. POETIC BRIDE - In a time-honored Japanese tradition, marriage is one of the most poetic and important transitions in the woman’s life. From the moment she dons her elegant bridal kimono, she is transformed from a shy young girl to a woman loved and respected for her beauty, purity and strength. In the Poetic Bride, Japanese contemporary master Hisashi Otsuka explores and interprets this beautiful and classic figure with striking intensity. In a stunning composition in color and rich detail, Otsuka reveals the silent drama and anticipation of a woman on the threshold of the most important time in her life. As her face reflects a quiet joy and anticipation, the bride holds a golden fan, symbolic of her inner strength as the binding force of the family. Adorning her wedding kimono are extraordinary detailed interpretations of the Thirty-Six Poets, a famous group of literary figures revered in Japan as the greatest writers of love poems. This strikingly beautiful, mixed-media edition has been executed on specially made paper. Its fibers are 100% natural pH rag equal to the strictest museum standards. The double thickness allows for the optimum absorption of colors and the use of sophisticated embossing techniques. A silk texture has been applied to the surface of every image and a mother-of-pearl coating in the fiber creates the iridescent quality of the original work. The printing process requires the highest levels of expertise. Each impression involves the use of several techniques: lithography, sculptural embossing, mezzotinting, and metal-foil stamping. And each exquisite work is as faithful to Otsuka’s original as possible. This is too large to mail outside of USA. Also exceeds USPS size limit.
