Description

Early 90's Nishiki Colorado Mountain Bike 56cm size c-t, Toptube is 59 cm c-c 3 x 7 21-speed Shimano drivetrain with XT Rear derailleur, STX front derailleur Yes, the paint job is... unusual. Original paint is dark blue spatters on light blue, with purple added by previous owner I think. I touched up the bare spots with additional blue and lavender that doesn't even come close to matching. Overall effect is kind of a retro Dixie-Cup kind of look. I love it. Hopefully someone else will too. Maybe a theft deterrent? That said, the frame is completely straight without a single dent, and I have completely rebuilt the bike including: - New cartridge bottom bracket - New 1-1/8 threaded headset - New chain - New cables and blue (brake) and purple (shift) housing - New bearings in front and rear hubs. Freehub and both trigger shifters were flushed and freshly lubed and are butter smooth. Tires and brake pads are in excellent condition and wheels have been trued. The bike has some unusual and desirable design details including oversize steel tubing and a 1-1/8 (not 1") THREADED headset and matching T-Bone stem, gusseted reinforcement of the downtube/headtube joint, ovalized downtube and seattube where they join the bottom bracket, an elegantly tapered straight blade fork, a wishbone seatstay with cool reinforced rear brake cable routing, and threaded bosses under the curved seatstay, behind the chainstay bridge, and behind the fork crown, to make mounting fenders clean and simple, and two bottle mounts on the downtube (and none on the seattube.) I originally built this bike up as a 1x9 drop bar bike and it absolutely ripped. But alas, it's just too big for me. I'm 5'8", and I'd say someone 5'10" - 6'4" or so would be more comfortable on this bike.
