Beautiful '40s '50s art deco mid-century modern MCM tiki Asian bar This is a really fantastic beautiful bar with fold-out wings and internal storage for bottles and glassware. It is a robin's egg blue kind of turquoise. It seems to be a lacquer type of paint that is very smooth and glossy. It has carved Japanese or Chinese design panels. I don't know if they are truly carved or maybe some type of embossed plastic or something like that. But they give the effect of carved wood . I don't know exactly what this is. It seems factory made because of the quality of the finish. I don't think it's anything like traditional Chinese or Japanese made or antique. Maybe it is just a nice factory made piece of furniture. Or, it might be something like a popular mechanics type DIY project. But if so, it's been done by a very skilled hobbyist. The finish is extremely smooth, maybe sprayed, and really glossy and attractive. However, it does have multiple worn spots where underneath finish is showing through. I don't know if this is intentionally distressed or not. But either way, it gives it a beautiful sense of character and history. I definitely wouldn't think it would benefit from repainting as it has a lot of character and would be really hard to duplicate or do as good a finish. It seems like this would fit well into many different decors. I think it would work well with a 30s art deco Hollywood style decor, or a tiki decor, or a mid-century modern design, or a mixed eclectic style, or anything else you can think of. The condition is pretty good. Nice and sturdy. All the hinges are high quality piano hinges that work very well. Not sure what else but maybe you could come up something else too if you want to fold them out. Width is 38.5 inches. Height is 43.5 inches. Depth is 20 inches. The wings are about 19 inches.
