Westmoreland Hand Painted Charleton Roses Style Matching Milk Glass Candlesticks 1950's. A lovely set with in Beautiful condition with no chips or cracks Each piece has the Westmoreland Stamp in the mold on the bottom W, hard to see 4 1/2" T x 3 1/4" W weighing 12 ounces each A Bit of History: The "Charleston Roses" decoration was a hand-painted design added to the glass, rather than a molded pattern. While the painting style is often attributed to the Westmoreland Glass Company, it was created by independent decorators, most notably the Charleton company, which sold their finished products to Westmoreland and other glass manufacturers. Some pieces were also painted by Westmoreland's own decorators The candlesticks were produced on Westmoreland's classic milk glass blanks, which the company began making in the 1920s. Milk glass production became a staple for the company, 1940s through the 1950s, when 90% of its glass was milk white. This makes the 1950s the most common period for these
