Description

Seiko 1605-8000/9 “Resist Resist” This is the predecessor of the 62MAS. And the was the model before the captain Willard was released in 1970. The 8000/9 was only produced from 1968-1970 making it a very rare 1605. The captain Willard was produced 3x longer from 70-76. Also, captain Willard is 44mm, larger sized diver like all modern seiko. But the 8000/9 is a smaller sized ,41mm C case, 19mm bracelet . Awesome sized seiko diver. To make it even more unique , this example of a 8000/9 is the “resist resist” version. In middle of 1970, seiko changed their water rating from water “proof” to water “resist”. So a very small amount of the 8000/9 are of this variety . In the pictures you can see the dial, and the case back are stamped “resist”. This particular model obviously dates to 1970 when this change occurred , making it the 1605-8000/9 “resist resist”. Watch has been serviced and keeps amazing time. The dial is crusty, bezel , crystal and case have scratches and show wear. Hands are also crusty, and weren’t touched , only movement was serviced . Watch comes on after market waffle strap, and also a vintage NOS H link seiko steel bracelet that’s time specific , off a 1639 that will be included in sale. I’m asking 1400. I’m open to trades for other automatic Swiss modern or vintage watches . I’m picky on what I would consider but offer away, as long as value is accurate.
