Description
These 4 vintage movie still photo — 3 for “Forsaking All Others” (8”x10”) & 1 for “Love On The Run” (8.25”x10.25”)— are in fine to near mint condition. Since these are original, 90 year old vintage still photos, they are bound to have some slight imperfections, particularly around the edges as routinely found in vintage photographs such as pinholes, creases folds, smudges & marks. The images of two of MGM’s biggest stars, Clark Gable and Joan Crawford, are really great. There is also a very good image of screen star Robert Montgomery in the 1st photo. The 4th card has a minute dot on Gable’s forehead that is an original printing defect. The photos display stylish, sophisticated images of some of the top movie stars during Hollywood’s Golden Age. “Forsaking All Others” is a hit 1934 MGM romantic comedy-drama written by Joseph L. Mankiewicz & starred Clark Gable, Joan Crawford & Robert Montgomery. Mankiewicz evidently understood the secret of Crawford's appeal: working-class women identified with her. The film is the 6th of 9 cinematic collaborations between Crawford & Gable. “Love on the Run” is a 1936 MGM romantic comedy about a runaway bride & an undercover news reporter that has similarities to “It Happened One Night” & stars Clark Gable, Joan Crawford & Franchot Tone. It is the 7th of 8 cinematic collaborations between Crawford and Gable during the 1930’s. At the time of its release, “Love on the Run” was called "a lot of happy nonsense" by critics but was a huge financial success. One reviewer said “Miss Crawford, of the big eyes & flowing hair, turns in a surprisingly volatile & amusing performance as the heiress.”
