Overview: Up for sale is an incredible aquatint etching by listed British artist, Bernard Kay (1(contact info removed)). Kay was a noted British painter, draughtsman and printmaker associated with the postwar British art scene. Born in Southport, Kay exhibited extensively in Britain and worked with Editions Alecto during the 1960s. His work is represented in major public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the UK Government Art Collection. This print, "Bourges," is a semi-abstract depiction of the French city of the same name. It was published by Editions Alecto (my research indicates 1967). Numbered 51/100 at lower left, titled at lower center and signed at lower right, all in pencil. Unframed. It has more than a few condition issues noted below. Price reflects those issues. Condition: Fair overall condition. Medium-sized tear at upper left that moderately affects part of the image. A few spots of foxing. There is also some horizontal rumpling. Measurements: Print measures approximately 25.25 inches high x 20.25 inches wide.
