Églomisé is a decorative art technique where the back of a piece of glass is gilded with gold, silver, or other metal leaf, and designs are then etched or painted onto it. The name comes from the 18th-century French decorator, Jean-Baptiste Glomy, who popularized the technique. It results in a reflective, mirror-like finish with designs that show through from the back.
