Description

This is a rare collection of Photo-Lettering typography sample books from 1970–1971. I used them when I worked at Dell Publishing in the late ‘70s and throughout much of my graphic design career. Ed Benguiat co-designed all three books and I was fortunate enough to study with him at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Photo Lettering's One Line Manual of Styles, 1971, Clothbound Edition, 6-3/8” x 12-18” x 1-3/8” thick. There is one detached page that is still in the book. Cover and spine show wear and tear from normal use. Book cover corners are slightly worn. There are a few spots of black marker in lower left of spine. Alphabet Thesaurus Vol. 2, Second Printing, 1970, Clothbound, 9-1/4" x 12-1/4" x 2-1/8" thick. Very good condition throughout—normal wear on cover and spine. The best condition of the three. Alphabet Thesaurus Vol. 3, 1971, Clothbound, 8" x 12" x 1-1/2" thick. Good condition. Some typical cover wear and patina on the spine. Four pages are detached but in the book.
