Description
Attention coin collectors…this is very rare!!!! This is a very old Chinese coin possibly of the Emperor Li Yuan AD 618 – 626 period. The coin is in fair condition for its age, but could use a cleaning by a professional coin collector. A little tidbit of information about this coin is that Li Yuan (Gaozu) was born to Li Bing (father), Duke Ren of Tang, and mother Duchess Dugu. Li Yuan inherited the title Duke of Tang when his father died in 572. Li Yuan was a Sui military commander who led a rebellion against his former masters, seized control of the state, and founded the Tang Dynasty (618-906) and became Emperor Li Yuan. There are hundreds of minor varieties and subtle differences in inscription on these types of coins. These changes probably identified specific issues, but the meanings of these codes have probably been lost forever.
