Vintage Mid Century Janszen Z-200 electrostatic speakers

Janszen Z-200 electrostatic speakers with Electro Voice 12BW 12" woofers. More pictures coming soon. Comes with "one" original 250 woofer. Comes with original sales brochures Unfortunately when I picked these up the original drivers were no longer in them. The original janszen 250 driver is a fiber glass basket and likely extremely hard to rebuild. I was only able to find one 250 driver. This will be put in a custom box built for long term storage and comes with the speakers, in hopes another will be found which will fully restore the speakers. These things are extremely rare, they were only available in the Z-200 full range speaker or as a stand alone woofer enclosure. Most of the time the I-30 (which is in the Z-200) electrostatic speaker was paired with a KLH. After extensive research and that I own EV speakers of the same vintage I settled on the 12BW woofers. My only hesitation was the size of the enclosure being three cubic feet, the EV 12BW preferred much larger. I have the SP12 in my personal speakers that are in a small enclosure but with the option of open baffling. I was able to find a matched pristine pair of 12BW so I took the chance. I'm so glad I did, these pair so well with the Janzen I-30 I would want to keep them together. I'm a bit of a purest so I still would like the 250 driver to at least listen for a time and have them for the value of the speakers. I replced the old ratty none original grill cloth with some new period style and new reproduction badges. Was a little worried that the cloth would take away from the sound but actually they enhanced it. Oddly the electrostatic had a sharpness at times, the cloth lowered that and tightened up the bass. As far as the bass, it easily gets down to the 40hz spec they were built. The EV driver's are as smooth and accurate as the electrostatic. The I-30 portion of the speakers are untouched other than a good cleaning and replacing the power cord. At one time they had a very odd looking power cord and likely have not been used in a very long time. Both the volume knobs work as I used them to balance the speakers. This is an amazing pair of speakers, I fell in love with them quickly. I am also a huge fan of mid century furniture and these embody all the aspects of form and function. The boxes are in great shape (seeing there 60 year age) with minor scratches and a few major scratches on one. They are in the process of getting repaired without loosing the original finish. My plans re to attach the grills with screws as the were when made. Repaired the legs and installed new brass caps because the old one where damaged. Also installed clear rubber boots that are removable. See last picture to compare. It really finishes the look with out taking away thier patina. Please ask all questions you have.
