Description
a silver 1/2 Mark from the German Empire, a staple of German currency during the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II. Technical Specifications Composition: 90% Silver, 10% Copper (.900 fine). Weight: 2.77 grams (contains approx. 2.5g of pure silver). Size: 20 mm (slightly larger than a US penny). Mint Mark "F": Struck in Stuttgart, Germany. Design & History Reverse: Features the Imperial Eagle (Reichsadler) with a shield on its chest, surrounded by an oak wreath. This design symbolized the strength and unity of the German Empire. Era: These were minted from 1905 until 1919. Production ended because of the economic collapse and hyperinflation following World War I, which made the silver in the coin worth far more than the "1/2 Mark" face value.
