About the Designer: Maitland-Smith is a luxury home decor and furniture brand that creates high-end, handcrafted pieces. The company was founded in 1979 by Paul Maitland-Smith, a London antiques dealer and descendant of cabinetmakers and antiques dealers. Maitland-Smith began in Hong Kong as a reproduction business that manufactured 18th century furniture and sourced materials from Hong Kong, China, and Thailand. In 1981, the company opened its first manufacturing facility in the Philippines and began showing at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point.
