Description
A pair of Chinese porcelain vases/jars decorated in famille rose (fencai) enamels, with courtly and garden scenes featuring women in traditional attire, along with floral and bird motifs. Porcelain vases reproduced in the 20th century. The tall vase measures 13 inches tall. The medium size jar measures 8 inches tall. Key Features • Decoration: Hand-painted enamel, depicting domestic courtly scenes and floral/bird panels framed with scrolling designs. • Palette: Famille rose with turquoise ground — very popular in 19th century and later. • Base Mark: Both vases have a red apocryphal seal mark. The marks are decorative and not true period marks. • Condition: Both pieces are in very good condition. Value Considerations • 20th-century decorative reproductions/export ware: typically $150 – $400 each retail, or $300 – $800 for the pair at auction/antique shops. If shipping, each vase will be placed in an extra large box doubling the shipping charge.
