Description
Antique quarter-sawn oak sideboard with carved detailing and storage. Pick up In Warm Beach Serious inquiries only. 5 Drawer Buffet 55” wide 35” tall 20” depth This is an antique oak sideboard (also known as a buffet or credenza), likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. It’s crafted in a Renaissance Revival or Jacobean style, characterized by the elaborate hand-carved motifs including grapes, fruits, flowers, leaves, and a central shell (fan or scallop) design on the lower section. The piece features: • An upper open shelf or display tier with turned baluster supports resembling pineapples or finials, and subtle floral carvings on the back edge. • A flat serving top surface. • Two small drawers with carved fruit panels. • Two cabinet doors below, flanking the central carved panel, providing enclosed storage (likely with interior shelves). • Wooden pull handles on the doors, integrated into the overall carved aesthetic. • Raised on a plinth base with minimal foot detailing. These were popular in Europe (often French or English origin) for dining rooms, used for storing tableware, linens, or silver, and serving food. The oak wood shows a natural grain and patina.
