Description
Not only is this thing gorgeous, but it moves some serious air! Three speed, reversible vintage robin blue General Electric box fan in a Lakewood slimline roll about stand. Fb isn’t letting me post video from my phone but I’ll add ASAP. The combo seems to be super rare. I’ve found two comparable fans - one is a country aire fan on eBay now for $350. The other was a cheaper GE box fan, for $300. Personally I think j that’s a bit much, which is why I’m at $250 - i think it’s a fair price considering condition and rarity, but I’ll consider a lower offer - if you can show me a comp to support it. Fair? The fan itself is in good working order - all speeds work but high does have a wobble, especially if it’s high on the stand. The fan moves more air on low than most fans do on high, so I wouldn’t worry about that too much personally. Low and medium are completely usable with very little vibration. It can be balanced, and I may try to do that this week if it doesn’t sell right away. As far as I can tell the fan and stand combo was either sold together or they were mated professionally very close to original purchase. I know Lakewood did build some fans for GE, but I haven’t been able to find much specific information on this setup. The original 3-speed plate is on the side with some wear around the hole - but i suspect this was from mounting the switch there at the factory and then moving it to the top so it didn’t break off when you rotate the fan in the stand. Whether this was done at a retailer or by Lakewood and then sold to distributors / retailers I don’t know. But .. it was obviously put together well, and being there are other examples of essentially the same setup but with different fans leads me to think this was likely done by a retailer or distributor. Some of the rubber nubs that hold the grates in were broken or missing, so when the blades wobble the grates will vibrate a little bit. I’m working on 3d printing replacements with PETG flexible plastic, or possibly TPU, but replacements are probably also available.
