Description
Gazo "San Marcos" chiming wall clock, having an engraved brass dial and cartouche Roman numerals. Carved oak case with beveled glass panels. L. 37 inches. Lot Note: The Gazo Family Clock Factory was founded in San Diego, circa 1973. It transformed a basement hobby clock shop into a family business with Lou and Cleo Gazo as the principals. In 1974 the company was incorporated and the name became The Gazo Family Clock Factory, Inc. In 1976, the company reached its peak of success. It had shops and craftsmen in Mexico manufacturing cases with elaborate carvings and a sales team in Dallas, Texas, that marketed the clocks. The company continued to operate until 1989, when it ceased business due to declining sales. Today, Gazo Family clocks are highly prized and sought after by collectors.
