Description

Vintage figural sculpture titled “Passion”, created by Dutch artist Theodore DeGroot in 1967. This piece is marked Leonardo Art Works Inc 1967, making it rarer than the Austin Productions editions. Sculpted in heavy black plaster (later painted white by a previous owner), it stands 20" tall with a base measuring 7 1/4" wide by 7" deep. The composition depicts a powerful romantic moment — a man stands behind a woman, gently holding her hands and drawing her close, with contrasting textures that emphasize their emotional dynamic. DeGroot studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and created works for the Dutch Royal Family. His sculpture “Passion” reflects both technical precision and deep emotional expression. Condition: Very good for its age. Minor wear consistent with vintage display. Please see photos for most accurate description.
