Description
These are from WW1. They were the FIRST binoculars made for the German military by Carl Zeiss Jena. Only officers had them and had to purchase themselves privately. (Offizier-Doppelfernrohr) The serial # is very low, indicating these were likely made or issued in 1894. There are many that resemble these for sale. However, they are almost always the later model - the D F 95. It is very rare to come across the ODF 95 MODEL. The ODF have cursive writing - see photos. They are worn, as I imagine they should be as they likely went through a couple of world wars (at least 1) and possibly more. The lenses are still in great shape. No cracks, breaks, or mold. If you are familiar with these, then you know it is a very rare and collectible find. I could have them refinished. However, I'm leaving it to the buyer to keep as is or restore them.
