There was a time when things were made to last. This 1984 Peavey XR-700 powered mixer is a fine example of that philosophy. Remarkably, it is still in good working condition after forty years. All pots rotate freely and graphic eq sliders travel the full length without any grittiness. Even the power amplifier outputs are undistorted. Details: Amplifiers: The XR-700 can route its output through one or two amplifiers. The amplifiers are designated as the main amplifier and monitor amplifier. Each amplifier produces 100 watts at 4 ohms of impedance. Equalizer: One 7-channel graphic equalizer provides sound controls for the main channel outputs and another controls the monitor channel outputs. Inputs: Inputs for low and high impedance microphones One input routed directly to each power amplifier as well as one input for each graphic equalizer. There are also three auxiliary inputs. The channel patching jack is unique in that it can be used for input or output. Outputs: Two amplified outputs are designated as monitor speaker outputs and two amplified outputs are designated as main speaker outputs. There are also outputs from the main and monitor channels that are not amplified. There are outputs designed to work with effects devices as well as a "SUM" output jack, which is a mix of the main and monitor channels. Headphone output jacks reside on the mixer's front panel. Effects: The XR-700 features a built-in reverb effect that can be controlled at the mixer or by a footswitch. It also inputs to connect external effects devices as well as outputs designated for external effects devices. Controls: Knobs on the front of the mixer control the signal levels for the main channel, monitor, effects and headphone levels. Other front mounted controls include high-, mid- and low-gain controls and knobs for aspects of the built-in reverb effect.
