Description

Large hand-painted art pottery platter by Giovanni De Simone of Palermo, Sicily. Three fishermen hauling in a swordfish under a bright sun - De Simone's classic folk-art style in turquoise, red, and yellow on white. Signed on the back "DESIMONE / ITALY / 64" (64 is the pattern number). Mid-century, circa 1960s-70s. Measures 14-1/2" square. Very good condition: no chips, cracks, or crazing. There is a small firing flaw spot near the top center of the front, shown in the photos - it's from the making, not damage. Pickup in Edgewood 98372 - public meetup or door pickup. Cash or Venmo. Shipping available separately - ask for a quote.
