Rare Champagne Pioneer SX-626 Receiver in excellent condition. The unit is accompanied by two sets of Criterion 444 & 100B speakers and original documentation. Documents include the Operating Instructions, Service Manual, Schematic, and Pioneer Brochure displaying models 300, SX-434/535/636/737/838/939/1010. Pioneer receivers are highly sought after for their superb overbuilt quality construction and sound. These early models are capacitor coupled and have nice warm sound just like the Marantz Receivers. This is a fully featured receiver with loads of features including the ability to connect three pairs of speakers at the same time and connections for up to two turntables. It has the ability to separate its preamp and amp section by removing jumpers in the back which allows it to be used as only a preamp or just an amp this allows you to connect with other preamps or power amps. This Pioneer receiver has a three original speaker plugs that sell for $20 plus online. The unit has incandescent lights and I will include an LED kit as well. I had planned to upgrade the lights but decided not to as other priorities took precedence. Brief unit history: The receiver and speakers were purchased locally from the daughter of the original owner. The unit came from a smoke and pet free household. The interior of the unit was amazingly clean for being 50 years old. The only issues included the usual dirty controls which resulted in a noisy and low audio output. The unit was tested, cleaned, deoxit, and now plays beautifully. The speakers sound and function as they should. I was unable to remove the grills from the 100b speakers, but they sound and test fine. One of the 100b grills could use a good cleaning. The 444’s grills look good and all have the proper badging. Selling because the wife say’s I have to many speakers and receivers. I would have a different unit and speakers in every room if it was up to me. Lol Local sale only and will not ship.
