Volume vs. Master The Volume control increases the amp’s distortion as you turn it up. It also effects volume or loudness. The Master control can be used in combination with the volume control to increase the loudness of the amp. Generally, as you lower the Master and increase the Volume, the amp will break up more immediately. Bright Switch The Bright Switch allows more high-end frequencies to come through, making the tone brighter. The intent here is to put some “shine” on the tone without it becoming harsh. POWER AMP GLOBAL CONTROLS Presence Turning up the presence control releases more high-mid and treble, bringing the amp’s tone forward. Depending on the tone stack and volume settings, the presence can change the gain/texture and loudness of the high-end, making your tone wilder and more 3-dimensional (or more “present”). Depth The Depth control modifies the feedback network of the amp, effecting the low end and unleashing its potential without the tone getting flabby or muddy. In addition to adding low-end, Depth adds a resonance to those frequencies that more 3-dimensionally shapes the amp’s tone. Because of this, Depth can also be used to balance the voicing of your amp cabinet. Woofy cabinet, decrease the Depth. Boxy cabinet, increase the Depth.
