Description
- Provenance: digital reprint after Pablo Picasso’s original 1954 painting - Media: laser jet ink on paper - Artwork Dimensions: 11 3/4”h x 15”v - Frame Dimensions: 26 3/8”h x 29 1/2”v - Condition: fair, there are some superficial scratches… This artwork is one of the first of many portraits Picasso painted of Jaqueline Roque, who became his second wife and a significant figure in his later works. These portraits are characterized by an exaggerated neck and feline face, giving the impression of a modern sphinx. Eventually Roque’s dark eyes, pronounced eyebrows, cheekbones and classical profile would become symbolic in Picasso’s later work.
