Description
The inspiration for this bike is nothing less than the bike that broke the one-hour record in Mexico City in 1972. A sleek, simple and strong single-speed bike. The frame is not a replica, but a fully modern hand-built lugged frame and fork with Columbus Cromor tubes and fully customized spec, including a flip-flop rear fixed/freewheel hub. Made for the urban cyclist, the hybrid single speed/fixed gear is complimented by brakes. The bike honors Eddy's exemplary rides in the Molteni colors. Add a splash of pink (5 Giro's), yellow (5 Tour's), rainbow stripe (3 wins) and the Belgium colors are classy accents to remind everybody it's a Merckx. The bike has dropped seatstays and svelte steel tubing throughout, but in a departure for most urban single or fixed frames doesn't use track ends but vertical dropouts and an eccentric bottom bracket for chain tension. Frame: Columbus steel CROMOR tubing Fork: Columbus SL 1" Wheelset: UMX-White Stem: UMX-White Handlebar: UMX-White bullhorn Seatpost: UMX-White Saddle: UMX-White Tires: Vittoria Zaffiro White Walls
