Antique Vintage Primitive Handmade Art Carved Wooden Ice Skates Leather Straps Previously Owned Item Details: Brand Fag S Ruite Akkrum Type/Description Pair of antique Men’s wooden ice skates. These skates, so called 'Friese doorlopers' are produced by the well-known Dutch skate factory Fa. GS de Ruiter, Akkrum. The trademark of de Ruiter is engraved in both skates. Akkrum has been situated between Heerenveen and Leeuwarden, both cities of the world famous eleven cities marathon. These skates were made to be strapped on to the bottom of the wearer's shoe. They have small screws that would stick into the heel of the shoe to help hold them in place, and leather straps that would be strapped over the shoe. The condition is typical of what you would expect for skates; which are this old. The blades are worn metal, but not rusty. I have not had the skates restored as the patina and the aged wood is what creates the value in the antique. The straps are dry and worn, one loop on the skates is cracked in half, both halves are included and can be repaired. We used these skates, as a piece of art. They hung on our fireplace for many years. The antiques are a piece of history. Measurements Length The skates measure about 15” long. Condition In fairly good condition, considering how old they are.
