Description Here is a striking 1981 Yamaha SG-800, made in Japan and finished in a vivid metallic blue. The Yamaha SG series is known for its substantial construction, excellent upper-fret access and powerful dual-humbucker configuration. This approximately 45-year-old SG-800 features the ornate Yamaha headstock, bound body and neck, split-block fingerboard inlays, dual humbuckers, four-control layout and upper-horn pickup selector. The metallic-blue finish has a strong visual presence and shows a noticeable amount of fine sparkle under direct lighting. This is a genuine vintage player-grade guitar with extensive cosmetic wear and evidence of previous alterations. The original pickguard has been removed, leaving several visible screw holes on the front of the body. There are also additional holes from previous strap-button placement, including one near the rear upper horn. There are scratches and areas of finish loss between the pickups, along with additional scratches, dents, dings, chips and finish wear throughout the body. The back of the neck also shows multiple scratches, chips and worn areas from use. The headstock has noticeable edge wear and chipping, particularly around the upper corners and sides. Several screws show oxidation and age-related discoloration, with additional normal wear visible on portions of the hardware.
