Description
The Safety 1st Guide 65 Convertible Car Seat is a compact and affordable car seat that can be used in both rear-facing and forward-facing modes. It is designed to fit well in smaller vehicles or allow for more space in larger cars, and it can fit three seats across in most back seats. The seat features a 5-point harness, side-impact protection, and an adjustable headrest. Installation instructions The installation process varies depending on whether the seat is rear-facing or forward-facing. Always refer to your vehicle's owner's manual in addition to the car seat's instruction manual. Rear-facing installation (5–40 lbs) Adjust the recline. Push the foot on the back of the car seat up into the seat to set it in the reclined position. There are two acceptable recline levels for rear-facing, depending on the child's weight. Choose installation method. Decide whether to use the vehicle's seat belt or the lower anchors (LATCH). Route the belt. Pass the LATCH strap or vehicle seat belt through the rear-facing belt path, located on the bottom of the car seat. The belt should be routed in front of the crotch strap. Secure the seat. If using the vehicle belt, ensure it is locked by pulling the shoulder belt all the way out and letting it retract. Tighten the strap by applying weight to the seat. Check for tightness. The installed car seat should not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path. Forward-facing installation (22–65 lbs) Pop out the recline stand. This will ensure the seat is in the upright position. Route the belt. Thread the LATCH strap or vehicle seat belt through the forward-facing belt path. Attach the tether. The tether strap should be unhooked from its storage position on the seat and attached to the vehicle's approved anchor point. Tighten the straps. Apply weight to the seat while pulling the LATCH or seat belt strap to tighten. Then, pull the tether strap taut. Check for tightness. The installed car seat should not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.
