Unique vintage Japanese statue of a Noh performer with removable mask and fan. Purchased in Japan, 1970's. Heavy piece, approximately 7.5 pounds. Quality of Japanese workmanship and artistry is unmatched. Lacquer stand included. Excellent condition. "Okina, in the context of Japanese Noh theatre, is a sacred ritualistic play and also the name of the mask worn by the central character, a divine old man, who dances for peace, prosperity, and safety. It's considered a special performance, often preceding other Noh plays and is more of a Shinto ritual than a traditional Noh play."
