BAUSCH & LOMB CRITERION MODEL 4000 TELESCOPE

Bausch and Lomb criterion model 4000 Compact telescope with case in great condition. A great telescope for looking at wildlife/nature the stars & moon. Well built, easy to control, can connect the scope (without base) to a standard camera tripod. Easy scope with rugged case where you can take it whoever you go. Bausch & Lomb Criterion 4000 4" 1200mm f/12 SCT Telescope Schmidt Cassegrain 4x20 mm finderscope 1 1/4" rear cell adapter on the rear. The only plastic on this telescope is the front and rear covers. Includes the original B&L CRITERION A.S.P. 18 mm eyepiece, & 90 degree diagonal. This telescope is very well corrected and colomated. Views through it are sharp as a tack. The 4000 is all cast and machined aluminum - the only plastic on it is the front lens cover (which is a nice sliding fit with a handy finger grip). It is a dual fork design supporting the OTA with outriggers fixed onto the rear cell. The OTA can be removed simply by undoing 4 Allen key cap screws and then the OTA can be mounted onto a standard photo tripod via the included 'foot'. The OTA itself only weighs about 2 lbs so even light duty tripod could be used to support it.. There is a motor in the base tracks the stars when viewing at night (requires slow motion control). The Slow motion control is an optional accessory and not included. There are slow mo controls, locks and large diameter setting circles on both axis. The base of the dual forks rides in two ball bearing races. Declination slo mo is through the traditional tangent arm with a wide degree of movement. It is smooth and positive. The RA axis has the typical slo mo knob and a separate RA lock knob.
