Description
The half-cent was the smallest denomination U.S. coin ever minted. Made of copper, these coins, roughly the size of a modern quarter, were discontinued just like the penny today when the rising costs of copper made it too expensive to mint. This 219-year-old survivor, minted when Thomas Jefferson was our President, was heavily used back in the day, and the year is barely discernable based on the unique serif at the top of the 7 in the date. I meet at the Food Lion in Randleman, NC if interested. #coins
