Rare find! 13 foot, all wood, handmade, out-rigging canoe. Purchased used from a builder/pro out-rigger in San Diego in 2022. Ive owned it 3 years, taken it out (lightly) each summer. The hull or body is fully glassed-in (fiber-glass) except the seats. The ama, or float, is fully glassed. The iakos, or arms, are not glassed, but stained. Ive rigged this canoe in traditional Hawaiian style lashings. White cotton rope, spider web and waterfall lashings (as some call it). That style of lashing takes practice to achieve the classic look. There are easier ways to secure the components. It is currently disassembled. Notes on hauling - Too big to fit on top a vehicle when assembled. But when the 4 components are separated, the hull can be strapped to a roof rack on a full sized sedan (one man can over-head lift the entire hull) and the float and arms could potentially fit inside a trunk with seats folded down. I chose to haul it fully assembled with an 8' trailer and pickup so i could drive up to the launch zone and get straight to paddling! Additional notes for the average person - -SPECS; hull = 13' x 25", height is about 15" -This specific hull type is unstable without the float so this canoe cannot be used as a free standing canoe. -Licensing/registration is not legally required. You can paddle out immediately! -No official weight capacity but I recommend 350 LBS. Can be used solo, 2 lighter adults or 3 teenagers. -2 wood seats (currently), but a 3rd seat can be dropped in easily with 2 screws. -Ive researched the market and these are extremely rare to find for sale in CA.
