If you check the underside or interior lip, you will likely find the traditional hallmark consisting of the word "Denmark" .The Repousse Artwork: The relief on the lid is a classic 1940s–1950s Danish design depicting a folkloric, rural village tavern scene. It features peasants gathering, drinking, and working outside a rustic tavern or barnhouse.The Function: These rectangular repousse boxes were originally used as desktop cigarette boxes, table match safes, or decorative trinket boxes.
